Sport - Entertainment over Money?

Never. Not in a million years.

Whether we as fans like it or not, money will always come first, as will silverware and Chelsea's performance on Saturday 19th May 2007 was a reflection of what football has turned into.

Chelsea's manager Jose Mourinho stated (not using my words) that he intended on playing a flat non-entertaining strategic game to win the trophy, and I'm sure that for Chelsea fans it was very entertaining watching John Terry lifting a Chelsea trophy, and it'll be a good return-on-investment for the season ticket holders who've witnessed their team lose the league title.

However, for over one billion people watching it on television of which a large percentage must've been neutral, it was the worst game of football I have seen from two teams of such a high callibre game. The closest I've seen to such a rubbish game usually comes from Liverpool against a half-decent premiership side that're probably going to lose anyway.

I honestly think it'd ruin years of heritage and truly break my heart if England went on to win the next world cup purely by parking the team bus in front of the goal and trying to nick one in the dying minutes of each half.

What right would I have to complain if the team I loved did exactly the same thing?!

Probably every right actually, because I'm a hypocritical football fan just like the rest.
