Happy new year

The new year is a time of promises that you're highly unlikely to keep and of the hope that what weight you gained over your time away from work was just "Festive Fat" and will fall off with your first (And only) month at the gym.

You'll resent paying more than a month's subscription when "We don't really use it", and give up.

Apparently and statistically, you'll give up by the end of March (or 95% of you will).

So. Shall we just nip this in the bud now? Shall we save your inevitable disappointment at not being able to stick at something for another year? Shall we save your £50 you're going to spend on a single month's gym subscription for something more useful?

Do yourself a favour, and don't bother joining a gym. If you haven't joined one before and you're over the age of twenty-five, you're not going to enjoy it. Its novelty factor will wear off in days, and you'll be happier spending that cash joining a sports team or cycling, or maybe road-running.

Try a few free things and see how you get on before you invest in something you're unlikely to like.

Hello wall, how's it going?
